Gotcha, well I still love em’. My best friend’s wife’s friend...Is on her third. She goes all over the country to find em with three pedals, drives them into the ground and gets another. It’s odd, but she always digs up really nice ones!

Was it just the air ride? Or a lot of other things? If it was just the airride, did you consider converting to traditional shocks/springs or was that not worth it or defeated the purpose of the car?

i loved that car. A s old ad it was, everything was still very nice. Even the noise the door mad e when it closed sounded great. nothing rattled. the clutch and shifts were butter smooth. I’d definitely get another, right after finishing audi master mechanics school.

air ride, oil leak, worn clutch , oil leak (yes two) brakes.... I did cons id er the coil overs but a big part of the car was the adjustable ride and i wouldn’ t want to lose that. I also wanted to be able to get to work on a consistent basis. It would be mu ch better as a second car / project car.

I thought that was the final exam of Audi master tech school.... Audi allroad onwership... you’d have to purchase it at the beginning of school and at the end of school you’d have to shoot it, like the dogs in the Kingsmen movies.

So are these the timing chain at the rear of the engine? Like the newer 4.2/5.2 engines? We know mine is at the rear of the engine and I don’t look forward to when that day comes for a timing chain service, yikes! But if it’s like the older belted V8’s, it’s accessible from the front, never mind I just answered my own question. So the chain driven ones are at the rear, yuck, but at least you could replace the clutch while it’s all apart. Does the engine have to come out for the chain, or can it be done in the car with the trans out? Either way it doesn’t sound like fun at all.
